How to Generate a UPI QR Code (Free & Step-by-Step)
- Navigate to the UPI tab in the generator tool above.
- Enter your exact UPI ID (also known as a VPA). You can find this in your payment app profile (e.g.,
yourname@okicici). - Enter your Merchant or Business Name. This name will appear on the customer's screen to verify they are paying the right person.
- Optionally, set a fixed amount in INR (excellent for single-price products, registration fees, or specific invoices).
- Click the blue Generate UPI QR button.
- Download the generated code as a PNG (best for digital sharing or standard printing) or an SVG (best for large-format banner printing).
- Critical: Always test the QR code with your own phone scanner before presenting it to customers to ensure the payment routes correctly.

Case Study: The Independent Fitness Coach

Best Practices for Displaying Your UPI QR Code
- Size correctly for the distance: For a shop counter, a 3x3 inch print is perfect. If customers are scanning from a car window, print it at least 8x8 inches.
- Always laminate physical prints: A single deep scratch, water smudge, or fold across the optical matrix can render the entire QR code unscannable.
- Use the SVG format for large prints: If printing on a hoarding or a large banner, never use PNG. SVG is a vector format that scales infinitely without pixelating.
- Leverage fixed amounts wisely: If you sell a single product (like a ₹20 water bottle), use the fixed amount feature. If you run a restaurant with variable bills, leave the amount field blank so the customer can enter the total.
