UPI QR Code for Google Pay: Free Generator & Complete Guide

Generate a single UPI QR code that works seamlessly with Google Pay (GPay), PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, and every other UPI app in India — entirely free, with no hardware required and zero transaction fees.

Google Pay's Dominance in India

According to 2026 NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) data, Google Pay and PhonePe combined process over 85% of all UPI transactions in India by volume. Specifically, Google Pay handles over 4 billion transactions per month. If your business cannot accept a Google Pay scan, you are actively turning away the majority of digital-first customers in the Indian market.

Does a UPI QR Code Work with Google Pay?

Yes. A common misconception among new business owners is that they need a specific "Google Pay QR code" and a separate "PhonePe QR code." In reality, a single UPI QR code works with all UPI-enabled apps simultaneously. This includes Google Pay (GPay), PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, Axis Pay, and every single Indian bank's proprietary UPI app.

UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is an interoperable, government-backed standard. Any app that supports the UPI framework can scan any valid UPI QR code. It is an open ecosystem by design.

"The genius of the UPI architecture is its interoperability. A merchant doesn't need to sign a contract with Google Pay to accept money from a Google Pay user. They just need a bank account and a generated UPI QR code. It democratizes digital payments by removing the middleman gateway fees entirely."— Fintech Infrastructure Analyst, Mumbai

How Google Pay Reads a UPI QR Code

When someone opens Google Pay and taps "Scan QR", the app reads the QR code, which contains a standardized UPI deep link in this exact format:

upi://pay?pa=yourname@okicici&pn=YourBusinessName&am=100&cu=INR

Google Pay's software decodes this string, fills in your UPI ID (pa), your business or personal name (pn), and optionally the amount (am). The customer then simply verifies the details on their screen, enters their secure 4 or 6-digit UPI PIN, and the money transfers instantly from their bank to yours.

How to Generate a UPI QR Code for Google Pay (Free)

  1. Go to QRcraft's UPI QR Code Generator.

  7. Download the generated code as an SVG (best for printing on physical signs) or PNG (best for adding to digital invoices).

Where to Find Your Google Pay UPI ID

If you don't know your UPI ID, it is incredibly easy to find inside the Google Pay app:

  1. Open the Google Pay app on your phone.
  2. Tap your circular profile photo in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Bank account.
  4. Select the primary bank account where you want to receive funds.

Google Pay UPI ID Formats by Bank

Google Pay partners with multiple banks to process transactions. Depending on which bank Google Pay assigned to process your setup, your UPI ID will end with a specific suffix:

Case Study: The Independent Tutor

The Challenge: A private math tutor was struggling to collect monthly fees. Parents were constantly asking for her bank details (IFSC code, account number), which required them to manually add her as a beneficiary in their banking apps — a process that took 24 hours to activate.

Our Experience: She used QRcraft to generate a custom UPI QR code containing her Google Pay UPI ID and a fixed amount of ₹2000. She downloaded the PNG file and added it to the bottom right corner of her monthly PDF invoices.

The Result: Parents received the PDF invoice on WhatsApp, opened it on their laptops, scanned the screen with their phone's Google Pay app, and the ₹2000 payment was completed in under 10 seconds. Late payments dropped by 80% because the friction of data entry was entirely removed.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I use the same QR for Google Pay and PhonePe?
Yes. One generated UPI QR code works with absolutely all UPI apps — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, and all banking apps. This interoperability is the core feature of the UPI standard.
Is it free to generate a UPI QR code?
Yes, it is completely free on QRcraft. There is no signup required, we never add a watermark to your code, and you can download it as many times as you want.
How do I get paid? Does the money go to Google Pay or my bank?
The money goes instantly and directly to your linked bank account. Google Pay is simply the user interface software facilitating the transaction; the actual UPI transfer always happens directly bank-to-bank.
Can I fix the amount so customers can't change it?
You can generate a QR code with a pre-filled fixed amount using our generator. However, be aware that while the amount will auto-fill on the customer's screen, most UPI apps (including Google Pay) still allow the user to manually edit the amount before hitting 'Pay'. Always verify the final payment receipt.
